Design brief & vision
The vision was to replace a tired, underused garden with a space that combined functionality and beauty. Our design created distinct areas for cooking, dining, and relaxation, while maintaining a sense of openness and flow across the garden.

Key features
At the heart of the design stands a handcrafted oak pergola, bringing structure, shade, and a sense of permanence to the entertaining space. Beneath it, a wide expanse of composite decking provides a durable and low-maintenance surface, ideal for cooking, dining, and summer gatherings. Beyond the pergola, the large lawn was retained but redesigned to feel purposeful, offering contrast to the hard landscaping and a flexible space for relaxation. The zoning of lawn, deck, and planting creates a garden that feels cohesive yet multifunctional.

Planting scheme
The planting palette was selected to provide contemporary elegance with year-round impact. Cool tones of purple and white flowers add refinement and calm, while layers of rich green foliage bring depth and movement. Seasonal combinations of spring bulbs, summer perennials, and evergreens for winter structure ensure that the garden offers interest and beauty in every season.

The result
What was once an empty lawn and a disused pool has become a modern entertaining garden with character and purpose. The oak pergola and composite decking create a welcoming focal point for gatherings, while the planting brings constant colour and life. This Beckenham garden now offers a retreat for dining, relaxation, and enjoyment throughout the year, a true showcase of contemporary garden design in Beckenham.
