Design brief & vision
The brief was to create an entrance garden that felt inviting but also ecologically rich. Rather than a purely ornamental design, the emphasis was placed on layered planting, pollinator-friendly species, and a naturalistic flow. The vision was to make the journey from street to front door both visually striking and environmentally beneficial.
Key features
A crushed gravel path leads through the garden towards a central water feature, forming a natural focal point that immediately draws the eye. The planting around the path and feature was designed to create a sense of movement and progression, with textures and colours shifting subtly as you approach the house. The water feature adds not only visual drama but also sound and movement, making the garden feel alive. Its reflective surface contrasts beautifully with the soft textures of planting, anchoring the design with a strong central element.
Planting scheme
The planting was carefully composed to balance beauty with biodiversity. Pollinator-friendly borders brim with flowers that attract bees and butterflies, while layered planting creates depth, texture, and a sense of abundance. Seasonal variation was built into the scheme, ensuring that the front garden feels dynamic throughout the year: fresh greens in spring, bursts of colour in summer, subtle tones in autumn, and structure in winter.
